Kimbo Slice to Join TUF 10

By Yahoo! Sports . LAS VEGAS – Kimbo Slice, the controversial heavyweight who in 2008 headlined the most-viewed mixed martial arts card in history, will be one of 16 contestants on the forthcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s reality TV series.

Dana White, the UFC’s outspoken president, has repeatedly mocked Slice for his lack of fighting ability. Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, became a cult figure by competing in street fights that were posted on YouTube. Slice’s “bouts” drew tens of millions of views and led him to turn professional.

He fought for the now defunct Elite XC, garnering massive media attention but getting mocked by White and others affiliated with the UFC for a lack of ability.

White has called him a “joke,” a “bum” and “not a real fighter,” among other less than kind descriptions. He said that Slice would “get murdered if he fought in the UFC” and suggested that his lightweight champion, 155-pound B.J. Penn, would “annihilate” the 230-pound Slice.

The UFC president has repeatedly insisted he would not allow Slice to compete in the UFC unless he won his way onto the show by competing on “The Ultimate Fighter,” which beings taping Wednesday and is scheduled to air in September.


Slice has called White’s bluff and will appear on Season 10 of the highly rated Spike TV series, White has confirmed.

    I agree. We all have to start from somewhere. Dana White was just hating on Kimbo in the beginning because he couldn't understand what all the hype was about with this guy beating up people on the street being uploaded on you tube? He was promoting and marketing the best fighters in the world and paying a pretty penny for it, so how in the hell is this ordinary joe off of the street getting more attention than his whole roster of fighting talent? Moxie. Charisma. Some people have it. Some people don't. Kimbo is drenched in it. Dana White isn't dumb. The Junkyard dog look, The gold teeth, The backstreet brawler attitude. How many fighters do you know that come to the UFC with their own fanbase. Trust this. Dana is going to make sure Kimbo Slice is well trained and groomed to be the next UFC Champion. He talked a lot of smack to get Kimbos attention but now that Kimbo is joining the The Ultimate Fighter cast we won't being seeing anymore Seth Petruzzi episodes out of Kimbo.

    Dana is just trying to make his point with this. Slice keeps knocking on his door wanting in the UFC, so now he will have his chance to prove himself. Not to mention the publicity its going to bring

    kimbo already fought pro street fighting similiar to ufc. like that fight against tank abott, if any of you have never seen it go watch it. kimbo has previous experience and skills with his hands. it'll be enjoyable to watch him climb to the top. he has the potential.

    If kimbo evolves i swear he couldwin:P That is, develops a ground game and technical ability. Dana white should be in masks place right now with the shameless way he takes advantage of people. I thought he liked the "bang em up,smash em trash em" kind of fighters that go for KO's?

    it is stunts that these that make people think that dana white is full of shit. A year ago, the guy was complaining about How kimbo slice lose a internet fight to sean gannon and that kimbo slice would get murdered in the ufc. And now he joins the TUF. I am not disrespecting kimbo slice at all, I think it is good for him to fight his way to the top. But dana white is just using kimbo slice for ratings. Like he said a year ago. he offered a spot for kimbo slice on the TUF, But he won't win it. If he is not going to win it, then why are you letting on the show. it's because the ratings. what about bobby lashley? he has better chances to win than kimbo and he can also bring ratings to the show. I am starting to believe that tito oritz had legitimate arguments against dana white, saying that he does not really care for the sport, all he cares about is milking the fighters for all they are worth.

    Kimbo isnt the best fighter by far, but i bet he destroys alot of the fighters that thinf they can beat him. And as soon as he beats someone who people didnt expect him to beat, they will call it a fluke.

    I can't wait to watch this TUF Season 10 and see if he can prove dana white wrong by winning a couple of fights but also if he makes it to the finals.I would love to see kimbo slice being trained by rampage jackson
