Gilbert and Laura originally dated for a couple of years before they broke up, when Gilbert signed with Washington.

After the end of the relationship, Gilbert was surprised to find out that Laura was pregnant with their first child in 2003.

Despite the separation, Gilbert made efforts to take a leave from the Wizards to be present for the birth of their daughter.

Shortly after the birth, the two began fighting about custody and support of the daughter, which could not be resolved amicably.

Once Laura realized that an agreement wouldn’t be reached easily, she hired a San Francisco law firm with the intent of serving Gilbert with a subpoena during a nationally televised game.

Gilbert caught wind of this information a couple weeks before the game, and worked in conjunction with the team to devise a story that he had the flu, and was unable to play in the name of preventing public humiliation.

Even though he avoided being served on TV, Gilbert was forced to spend much of 2004 hiding from process servers, who on more than one occasion served one of Gilbert’s teammates in a case of mistaken identity.

After much turmoil and frustration, Gilbert and Laura began speaking and negotiated terms of custody and child support.

    Hmmm...
    I don't know...the baby in the picture doesn't look much like Gilbert. The pic makes the little girl look darker skinned than both parents...I know it can happen but it seems unusual to me

    I'm apalled at the audacity of some individuals who taint the title of being called a woman. Clearly Laura Donovan doesn't love anyone not even herself because if she loved herself she would not be caught up or connected to such a scandal especially being the mother of young children. The idea that she could pretend to be friends with Shaunie and then sleeps with Shaq clearly proves that she doesn't have an ounce of decency in her nor does she deserve to be with Gilbert, but Gilbert needs to recognize that Shaq could not get between legs that were closed so he should prepare himself legally to provide for his children and get the hell away from Ms. Donovan who clearly is auctioning herself tothe highest bidder. She and Shaq both should be ashamed if they can't control their hormones any better than that. I support shaunie a 100% by remaining a lady in all this drama and I applaud her walking away because no amount of money is worth your self worth. Shaunie is a real lady, but as for Laura Donovan, get some help and realize you have to set an example for yourt children and this is not a good example to set. Try Jesus and you can change.

    Please.... everyone....these are weakminded grown men who have been told they are above anyone that cant put a ball in a hoop. The ladies they deal with are either from their childhood or bball hoes. If they are from a players childhood, they feel entitled such as the former Ms. Jordan, others just want the lime light.     I guess we need to stop blowing this professional sports figures' heads up so they want think they are invinsible or something. You get so big, you tell yourself you can do whatever you want, whatever you think. They are still human and I guess they are not able to handle the power and influence they have. Then some woman have no idea how much they are worth. Some will sale to the highest bidder in hopes of living happily ever after -- thinking riches make you happy. How many of us would be as foolish if money, access, fame and opportunity presented itself? We all just NEED TO WAKE THE HELL UP.

    To all u new comers entering the sports world and bringing in the millions from it. Hang with one skirt only! Give it a couple of months before u start sticking her. Take her here and there (i.e. amusement parks, sizzler, McD's, etc.). Buy her inexpensive stuff for her birthday, valentine's day, xmas, etc. See how she handles that before u make the mistake and spend 100's of thousands on her and she spits one out and starts banging everybody else and gives u an 18 year sentence. If this relationship fails, pull a Magic Johnson publicity stunt and tell the world you are HIV +, AIDS, Staph, STD's, etc., etc. Don't f'it up though and gain a fu*ken 100 lbs. as time goes on and still expect the world to believe you are on your death bed!     Well it is what it is. Sh*t some of the brahs might want to think about having a vasectomy or something. It is pure h≪ dealing with a woman who has your child that you never wanted in that light in the first place. These same women have kids by men with secure finances for a living. And to bring insult to injury, the get paid and don't have to work or pay taxes on the child support! The USA is a great place to live for a trifling a*% woman with weave and breast implants!

    I am appalled that she would put herself in this position.. Gilbert made the step to marry her when he specifically said he would never marry!

    Help me if I didn't count right but I believe there are at least 81/2 children in the middle of this fiasco. I know temptation is difficult to fight; but come on, it's just not worth it when there are so many innocent children involved.
