Mauro Zarate plays down Premiership rumors

Argentinean Lazio striker Mauro Zarate dispelled the rumors that link him to various clubs in the English Premier League. Young star stated in his latest interview that he will never leave SS Lazio

"Me... Leave? Never," he told the press as he scooped an award at the Athlete of the Year awards for 2009.It's a difficult moment for us and we must improve. Our objective remains the Coppa Italia."

However, the decision may be not up to Mauro Zarate himself, as Lazio are currently in the very bottom of the Serie A table, as they lost their last game 3-0 to Atalanta. Zarate is valued in the region of 20 million pounds, and Arsenal are one of the top contenders for his signature. Lazio management know that in case of relegation they will need every penny, and Zarate will be probably the first player to leave.
